Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Steven Machtinger received his MD degree at the University of Pittsburgh before he and his wife, Karen, headed west. Following pediatric internship at the University of California, Irvine he served as a general practitioner on the Warm Springs Reservation in central Oregon. Dr. Machtinger completed residency in pediatrics and fellowship in allergy, immunology, and respiratory diseases at Stanford. Since completion of training, he has been in private practice in the San Mateo County. He is a past-president of the Western Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and current president of the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Foundation of Northern California. He is a clinical adjunct associate professor at Stanford where he mentors fellows in allergy and immunology. Away from medicine he enjoys walking his corgi, playing guitar and spending quality time with his wife, son, daughter, and their families.
